We are so excited to announce!

Barrhaven Meetup

first meetup: Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 7pm

Cafe Cristal, 240 Kennevale Dr.
on the fourth Tuesday of each month

SIGN UP HERE

After months of so many of you asking, we will finally be coming to your corner of the 613, Barrhaven!

Serving areas like Fallowfield, Manotick and Riverside South, and meeting at Cafe Cristal, this will be a welcome addition to SBC613's growing list of meetups. All this, thanks to Ashley Raymond, who made all the plans and will be hosting you each month.

The timing of the meetup is 7pm to 9pm, and will run typically like other meetups, with a moment or two to settle in and order a little something to drink and snack on, followed by a lovely hour to lose yourself in whatever book (or at least one of them!) you're currently reading. Afterwards, you can either slip away or stick around for a little more time to share what you're reading and get to know some of your bookish neighbours!

Have fun, Barrhaven!

How does it work?

  • Typically, at reading meetups, 60 minutes of reading is bookended by 30 minutes of chit-chat and sharing, during which time you are encouraged to order something to sip or nibble, as these spaces are being provided free of charge to the chapter. Some hosts are putting their own spin on this format, so it might vary a bit... but the cornerstones of sbc613 are always present: reading, inclusiveness, and no admission.

Make your experience fit your vibe

  • On the sign up page, click through to the various location links and get to know our meetup spaces!
From location to timing, choose which best suits your ideal reading meetup.
  • Come just in time for the reading then scoot at the end of reading time, or come to share and discover what others are reading.
    This is your sbc experience!
  • And please... come a little hungry or thirsty... ready to support our host venues. 💛

March 2025 “For most of history,Anonymous was a woman.” ― Virginia Woolf Welcome to March. In this part of the world, it came in like a lion, indeed. As I sit here with my hands paused, fingertips poised and ready to write to you, my mind swirls with the maelstrom happening outside of my safe little office walls. Inside here, I can convince myself that the world can be safe and calm... just not right now. Because even inside here, there are too many things, impossible to deny; impossible to...

February 14, 2025 “What a blessing it is to love books.” ― Elizabeth von Arnim, The Solitary Summer We're about halfway through February and we've just had the heaviest snowfall of the Winter. No surprise, really. But it does mean that many folks spent the better part of the last 24 hours digging themselves out of over a foot of snow... 32 cm to be precise, according to some reports. AND... there's more coming this weekend. But you know... this is a good thing. It's supposed to snow, in this...
