Greetings, Reader ~ Fall colours are peeking into view and, as many say, they'll soon be peaking too! For now, in our part of the world, yellows are stealing the show, along with whispers of red. Soon, there will be a burst of golds, reds, and oranges too, from the green belt to the Gatineau hills, and everywhere in between. For some, Autumn is all about the colours. For others, it's about being the true New Year. We're one month in (as September fades into our rear-view mirror) and most of the back-to-school types of routines are likely now in place. Funny how there is a newness to each quarter - or each season: Of course, Winter brings January's resolutions. Spring brings new births and sprouts of all kinds, and Summer starts off our vacation-y vibes. Now, Autumn - despite the harvesting and gathering of what's been growing and ongoing in our fields - sees us starting many new adventures. During this season, whether you've signed up for choir, gymnastics or league bowling, you might experience beginnings which are often as significant as any we make throughout the year. I find myself making resolution-type promises to myself at this time of year. And this year's no different, I suppose. In addition to having signed up for - yep, you guessed it, bowling (which goes until May!) - I am hoping over the next season, to visit more of the Ottawa Chapter meetups. I used to travel to host some of the meetups as they got started, but I haven't ventured far afield recently. At least, not much beyond the Hintonburg meetup, which I host. Heading out to experience more of the meetups feels like a lovely Fall plan to me, don't you think? What kinds of things start up for you, Reader, when the leaves turn and the air chills? Wishing you a colourful Autumn with cozy moments of reading, too. ~ nicole (& the whole SBC613 team) Please note... September 2026 ph. cr.: UnSplash (Heather Newsom) Hello, Reader! Short and sweet for this month's newsletter: I wanted to share that I have been thinking about cheerleading, championing and supporting, when it comes to the things we take on, both in our life in general and specifically in our creative lives. We express deep respect by our supportive actions, when those we care for dive into big dreams and big plans. First, if they have chosen to share those plans and dreams with us, we take...
August 2026 ph.cr. ~ unsplash: Lyle Hastie Hi there, Reader! Being the messenger of questionably favoured news is not always a bad thing, I'd say. The questionably favoured news in this case is: the days are getting shorter. And with this we begin to return to darkness. Don't get me wrong ~ I am absolutely delighted that we have lots of sunny, Summer days left to enjoy; long and lazy days to languish along shores and beaches, reading beach reads and cozy mysteries; stolen moments under...
